Welcome to Grou, the center of Friesland where hospitality is the main thing.

This is the tourist platform for tourists from the water sports village Grou with information about tourism, leisure and recreation. Grou is a characteristic and idyllic village. It has a nice centre with old-fashioned cozy shops and there is a lot of variety in enjoyable restaurants with nice terraces both, in the center and on the waterfront. Because of the central location Grou is easy to reach. By car on the A32, by train and by boat.

Grou is located in the center of Friesland. You will find all the ingredients for a wonderful holiday, a great weekend or a nice day trip. Here you can watch an video impression. Because of its clear lakes and waterways and the peaceful scenery ( which you can see in the picture above) Grou is loved by boaters, both young and old. Even not water sports enthusiasts can enjoy the many attractions in and around Grou and along the waterfront or enjoy a beautiful bike trail which is called The Ferry Route, 'The 8 van Grou'. Numerous events are organized in Grou and in the region in the summer period.

In Friesland skûtsjesilen (sailing with historical old cargo ships) is one of the Top Events for Dutch tourism.

Each year, over a fortnight Skûtsjesilen keeps Friesland captivated. Anyone who is sympathetic to sailing, is following the race between the old cargo ships closely. The annual battle of the SKS always starts in Grou on Friday with the official launch and draw, and on Saturday the race.
